The Golden Door International Film Festival. A film festival right in our backyard in Jersey City, NJ.
We started making films in 2010, and our first film Blaming George Romero was finished in 2011… just in time to submit it to the 1st annual Golden Door IFF. We got in.
Since then, Narrow Bridge has grown alongside GDIFF. In 2012, Red Scare played the HISTORIC Loews Theatre, which was amazing. Since then, Devil You Know, Cabin of Errors, Click Send, & Yellow Scare have all gotten in and we had a great time. Last year, Yellow Scare had a great screening (we PACKED that theatre filled with laughter) and won BEST COMEDY, BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Dan Gregory), and the first ever FOUNDERS’ AWARD. We received certificates from both Hudson County and Bayonne recognizing our contributions to the arts AND Mayor Jimmy Davis of Bayonne named September 23, 2018 NARROW BRIDGE FILMS DAY. It was an amazing weekend.
Bill & Michele Sorvino (and everyone who works with them on the festival) truly care about independent film, probably more than just about anyone else I have ever met… More, they care about the filmmakers themselves, and it shows each year with their amazing festival. Golden Door is not just the best film festival in NJ… It is one of the best festivals in the world, and we are honored, proud, and excited to be celebrating another year with them.
This year will be the first ever year that Golden Door is expanding to more than Thursday-Sunday. While the “Opening Night Gala” will still take place on Thursday, September 19th, there will be films playing on Tuesday & Wednesday as well.
And NBF is proud to represent our hometown of Bayonne, NJ in Block #1 at AndCoWork (201 Montgomery Street, Jersey City 07302) on Tuesday, September 17th. The NJ premiere of Cupid’s First Day and the WORLD premiere of Last Rehearsal of the Dangerous Kitten will screen before a documentary Celebrating Bayonne’s 150th Anniversary.
NBF is proud to be a Bayonne production company. We are excited to celebrate YEAR 9 of Golden Door and YEAR 150 of Bayonne in style.
