“Summer Cabin” at GDIFF 2016!

Black_GDIFFLogo2

It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly been a year since we started filming “Summer Cabin.” It was a long journey, and it took an incredible amount of hard work and dedication and patience to get the movie finished, but we did it! And we are all very happy with what we made together.

And we are all incredibly excited that “Summer Cabin” will be making its film festival debut at the 2016 Golden Door International Film Festival in Jersey City. This will be Narrow Bridge Films’ 4th project selected for the GDIFF. We couldn’t be happier to have “Summer Cabin” play at a festival that truly supports independent film.

Congratulations to our amazing cast & crew.

Once we have more details, we will share them here and on our various social media sites. We hope to see you there. And send good vibes that this will only be the beginning of a very successful festival journey.

A New Jersey Film Company

NJ

New Jersey gets a bad rep throughout the country and world… But to those people, I say, Narrow Bridge Films is a proud NJ Film Company, and if you don’t like it you can GTFO!

We are based in NJ. For the most part, we live in NJ. And we film in NJ. We always have. Because its easy, but also because we love New Jersey, and we love the people of New Jersey. Hell, I even have a NJ Tattoo!

NJ TATT

See?

Today, I got an email from the NJ Film Commission asking if we filmed Yellow Scare in NJ, and if so, where?

As I responded, I realized how many cities we actually shot in our 19 day film shoot.

  • Bayonne, NJ
  • Union City, NJ
  • Washington, NJ (07882)
  • Jersey City, NJ
  • Newark, NJ
  • Teterboro, NJ
  • Stanhope, NJ

And I realized that this was the most amount of cities we’ve ever shot in, and they were all amazing, and they were all in New Jersey.

So, filmmaker’s… If you’re looking for a great place to film, you could do a lot worse than the Garden State.

BONUS: Here is a quick shot of the first day of editing “Yellow Scare.” It has begun!

4 Features Down!

01

In 2010, I decided that I wanted to produce my own feature length film: Blaming George Romero. I was told that I was crazy by more than a few people. I was told that it wouldn’t happen by others… But I assembled a group of actors I met in High School and College, and was lucky enough to get a small crew together to make it.

After that, I was told that we shouldn’t try to make another feature… So, a few months after we first screened Blaming George Romero, we started production on Red Scare. Red Scare was a huge leap in quality. It won awards, and screened at a whole bunch of festivals. And we had two features under our belts.

02

We followed those up by experimenting with short films and a web series, before we made our 3rd feature length film Summer Cabin, which is currently being submitted to numerous film festivals throughout the world.

And now, less than a year after wrapping production on Summer Cabin, we have wrapped principal photography on our 4th feature: Yellow Scare! Most filmmakers may be daunted by the idea of creating a feature length film. And here we are, two in one year… 4 in total. If it sounds like I am bragging, I am. Not just for me, but for all of Narrow Bridge Films, the greatest group of artists I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

03

With each project we have undertaken, we have attempted to grow in one way or the other.  We’ve come along way. We’ve learned a lot, and each project we’ve made has improved on what came before. And I truly believe that we have done so again with Yellow Scare.

Shot on the fanciest shmanciest camera we’ve ever used (a Canon C300 Mark II), with an incredible cast filled with Narrow Bridge regulars and newcomers, and our largest crew yet, I have no doubt that Yellow Scare will be our best film yet.

Seriously, I can’t say enough about the cast & crew. This movie would be nothing without all of these amazing people.

04

In the past, we have limited ourselves to maybe one or two good locations, and settled for the rest. For Yellow Scare, we were lucky enough to film at the greatest locations we ever have. Some were free, and others were discounted, and we are grateful to all of our locations:

  • Richard Rutkowski Park
  • Survival Fitness of Jersey City
  • Jenna Kildosher’s Apartment
  • Keith McCord’s Apartment
  • Aviation Hall of Fame & Museum of New Jersey
  • Hendrickson’s Corner of Bayonne, NJ
  • The DaVinci Room of Bayonne, NJ
  • Patty Hosmer’s House
  • New Jersey City University
  • The Park Theatre
  • The Bayonne Museum
  • The bar formerly known as Maker’s in Bayonne (owned by Dean Urciuoli)
  • Devin & Joyce Graham’s House
  • and more!

Thank you to all of those locations!!!

Although we have wrapped principal photography, we still have quite a ways ahead of us. I am going to begin the edit soon, and after we have our final cut, it needs to be worked on by SFX, Sound, Color Correction, and music!

And hopefully, sooner than later, you will get a teaser trailer for Yellow Scare. 😉

Stay tuned to this page (and our facebook & Instagram) for more updates on this and all of our films. And enjoy the rest of the stills below.

Much love,

The April of Narrow Bridge Films

We are gearing up for our April 7th screening of Summer Cabin at Franks Theatres in Bayonne, NJ. Tickets are available here.

The Jersey Journal did a nice write up for us here: Jersey Journal Article

Tickets are limited, so make sure to get yours today. After theatre rental fees, all ticket sales will go directly to the funding of Yellow Scare, which we start filming the week after the Summer Cabin screening. We just extended our campaign, because of that Jersey Journal article, so please keep on supporting the scare.

These are our biggest, and best, projects yet, and your support means the world to us.

Summer Cabin Screening!

summer cabin screening

In 2013, Isaac Platizky wrote a script and asked Dan Gregory and I to read it. I kept putting it off, because I am an awful brother. Dan read it, and kept saying, “Let’s film it! Let’s film it!”

Eventually, I read the script. And we got to work on making it happen. We cast it, we crewed it, we had a location in New Hampshire. We were supposed to start filming Summer 2014… Things fell through, and we had to cancel production.

In 2014, Isaac decided he wanted to, at the very least, have a reading of the script. So, in March of 2015, that is exactly what we did. We had a reading in NYC. It was fun, and I thought that was it. On the light rail home, Dan kept saying, “we should still film it! We should still film it!”

So, in Spring of 2015, I got Sean Feuer to agree to direct it. Unfortunately, one of our actresses (the wonderful Alannah Potter) couldn’t afford to take off the time necessary to film in New Hampshire for a week, but fortunately Megan Bussiere stepped in to replace her. Later in the summer, one of our other actresses dropped out, but we got so lucky when Laura Chaneski signed on. Along with the remainder of our cast (Isaac Platizky, Jenna Kildosher, Dan Gregory, and myself), we were ready to go.

We filmed in Summer 2015, thanks to the amazing Dave Hanglin and his wife, and continued filming through fall. Throughout it all, Billy Farley & Joey Mosca were rocks of talent, skill, and awesome-ness.

And now, on Thursday, April 7th at Franks Theatre in Bayonne, NJ, we will be having a special screening of “Summer Cabin.” Tickets are limited. You can buy yours here.

We hope to see you there for what is sure to be an amazing night.

Growth as Artists

One of the things most important to us here at Narrow Bridge Films is growth. As artists, we realize that there are always things to learn and always ways to grow… As actors, as directors, and writers, and editors, and producers.

With each film we have made, we have made a drastic leap in quality. Take for instance, our first film, Blaming George Romero.

Now, I will always be proud of BGR, but it is rough around the edges in all ways. It was our first film! And we took everything we learned, and applied it to Red Scare, which went on to be an award winning film.

But even Red Scare was missing something. And so we took what critque was offered from that (and our webseries and series of short films) and we applied it to Summer Cabin, which looks so much better than anything we’ve ever done.

Doesn’t that look great?

But like I said, we don’t believe that we can ever stop learning or growing… And that brings us to Yellow Scare. In every way imaginable, it is our most ambitious project. We are taking everything we have learned in the last 6 years and applying it to Yellow Scare. From pre-production (casting, script tightening, location scouting, crew assembly), to production (filming), to post-production (editing, music, VFX) and beyond (festivals & distribution), we are going to make Yellow Scare into the most amazing movie we have ever made.

You can be a part of that. All you have to do is head to IGG.me/at/SupportTheScare and you will be a part of Yellow Scare. Go to the page and take a look at the great gifts we have for you if you choose to become a Yellow Scare backer. DVD’s, posters, IMDB credits, on set experiences, and so much more! Hell, even sharing the link with your friends, families, and co-workers will make you a part of this film. So, please do that.

Be a part of history. Help us grow even more. Help make a movie.

Support The Scare

IGG.ME/AT/SupportTheScare

We are hard at work getting ready for our 4th feature length film: Yellow Scare. It’s our biggest film yet, and we need all the help that we can get.

We’ve started a brand new Indiegogo Crowdfunding campaign to raise extra funds to help us pay for locations, set design, crew, food, insurance, equipment, and all of the odds and ends of filmmaking.

We know it’s gonna be a really good movie, but the larger our budget, the better it will be. Anyone can make a movie these days. We need to do everything we can to stand out. By being a backer of Yellow Scare, you are helping us do that. You are helping talented artists make a movie that will get them noticed and propel them forward in their careers. By being a backer, you are a filmmaker too!

Plus you get tons of great perks. Just Join the Yellow Scare Army!

Location Scouting

We always try to upgrade and improve from project to project. Film-making is a learning experience, I don’t care how many films you’ve done… You can always do better, and there’s always something to learn.
As far as locations go, unfortunately, up until now, we have occasionally been forced to just wing it; sometimes with no knowledge of the actual space we are going into. Heck, one of our best locations, the cabin in Summer Cabin, was one we’d never been to several hours away! What if it didn’t work? (Thank God it did.) Sometimes we’re still trying to figure out where to shoot the day of a shoot!

It’s very, very independent filmmaking… But it’s not ideal in anyway. For Yellow Scare, we are trying to lock in all of our locations months in advance so that nothing goes wrong… And so that we can use the time to decide how best to change 2016 locations into 1942 ones.

Today was our first official scouting. We visited a few apartments, a few bars, and a theatre. We have more locations to look at and lock in, but this time we are going to do it the right way.
